BANJA LUKA, NOVEMBER 14 /SRNA/ - A formal ceremony was held to mark the 54th anniversary of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Banja Luka, during which diplomas were awarded to graduates of the first and second study cycles who completed their studies over the past year.

The Rector of the University of Banja Luka Radoslav Gajanin emphasized that the faculty enrolls an increasing number of students each year, thanks to the leadership of the institution and its collaborators.

"They have adapted the study programs at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering to meet the needs of the modern labor market. Our students find employment even before graduation, which is particularly important. There is intensive cooperation with industry, and through this collaboration, continuous practical training is ensured," Gajanin told reporters before the ceremony at the faculty.

The Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Darko Knežević expressed satisfaction with the achievements of the past period, emphasizing that the faculty is recognized both in the region and internationally, as reflected by the guests attending the ceremony from Republika Srpska, the Federation of BiH, Serbia, the wider region, and China.

This year, 140 students enrolled in the first cycle of studies. Over the past 54 years, around 11,000 students have enrolled, with approximately 2,100 completing the first cycle.

"Currently, the situation in industry is such that our engineers often earn higher salaries than professors after graduation, which, on one hand, isn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially not for them," Knežević emphasized.

The top student of the first cycle of studies, with an average grade of 9.4, is Dejan Vujasin, who was also awarded his diploma today.

"My career will continue at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering because I have enrolled in the second cycle of studies. In addition, I also work in the industry," Vujasin stated.
