SARAJEVO, APRIL 1 /SRNA/ – The construction of a main gas pipeline from Šepak to Novi Grad, for which BAM 1,029,477,150 will be secured from the Republika Srpska budget, will enable gasification of more than 65 percent of the territory of Srpska, Nedeljko Elek, director of Sarajevo-gas from Istočno Sarajevo, told SRNA.
Elek stated that, following a completed tender procedure, the Government determined that Sarajevo-gas, as the authorized company, conducted the entire procedure on behalf of the Government of Republika Srpska and gave approval for signing the contract for the construction of the main gas pipeline.
“The pipeline is 500 kilometers long and includes 18 gas stations and 18 compressor stations,” Elek explained.
He noted that gasification is currently underway in the eastern part of Republika Srpska, in the municipalities of Šekovići, Milići and Vlasenica, while Istočno Novo Sarajevo and Istočna Ilidža have already been gasified.
“We have completed gasification of Jahorina and installed a gas station in Pale,” Elek said.
He added that a large part of eastern Srpska has been gasified over the past three years, noting that the new project will also cover the western part.
“All that remains is Herzegovina, and I hope that very soon, together with our partners from the Federation of BiH, we will build a gas pipeline from Sarajevo to Goražde. That would allow us to gasify 100 percent of the territory of Republika Srpska,” Elek noted.
