EAST SARAJEVO, AUGUST 15 /SRNA/ – The mayors of East Sarajevo and Nizhny Novgorod, Ljubiša Ćosić and Yuri Shalabayev, signed today in Russia an Agreement on the Establishment of Twinning Relations between the two cities.
“It is a great honor for me that today, in the magnificent Nizhny Novgorod, together with its mayor Yuri Shalabayev, I signed the Agreement on the Establishment of Twinning Relations between our cities,” Ćosić told SRNA.
He emphasized that this agreement is not merely a formality for East Sarajevo, but an act that deeply reflects the historical, cultural, and spiritual ties between the Serbian and Russian nations.
“We continue what we have been doing for centuries – sharing experiences, struggles, victories, and ideals, helping each other in difficult times, and preserving the closeness that overcomes the kilometers separating us,” Ćosić said.
He expressed his belief that this agreement will be much more than a signed document and will serve as a foundation for concrete projects in the economy, culture, education, sports, tourism, and every field that connects people.
“We will pay special attention to connecting our youth because friendships formed in youth last forever. As of today, we are officially twin cities, and East Sarajevo will honor and nurture that great privilege in the way brothers always do,” Ćosić stressed.
Ćosić is visiting Nizhny Novgorod, which this year celebrates its 804th anniversary.
