BIJELJINA, APRIL 4 /SRNA/ - The church municipality of Koprivna near Modriča collected funds for a drinking water well for poor Ugandan children, which was dug in the gate of the temple of Saint Spyridon near Busembati, it was announced on the website of the Eparchy of Zvornik-Tuzla.
It is said that there is also a secondary school of the Ugandan Orthodox Church, attended by more than 200 students.
The action began with the blessing of Metropolitan Fotije of Zvornik-Tuzla in the first days of Easter Lent, and at the end of March, the first well named after the first Serbian archbishop and educator Saint Sava was blessed.
The parish belongs to the Diocese of Djinja and Eastern Uganda, for which Bishop Sylvester is in charge.
The digging of several more wells is in preparation, as well as the purchase of books, food and shoes for children, more copies of the Holy Scriptures for churches and vestments for priests.
The action will last until the celebration of the Easter.
The Orthodox community in Uganda has 76 Orthodox priests, about a hundred churches, 40 of which are brick buildings, as well as one hospital.
