BIJELJINA, MAY 22 /SRNA/ - Young accordion virtuoso Đorđe Perić achieved another historic international success by winning the City of Pula Cup at the 49th International Accordionists’ Meeting in Pula, one of the most prestigious and oldest accordion festivals in Europe.
“This year, the festival gathered as many as 600 participants from 24 countries around the world, and with a brilliant performance, Đorđe won first place in the junior virtuoso category for competitors up to 18 years of age. He then received the festival’s most valuable award — the City of Pula Cup for the best soloist and the contestant with the highest number of points among all categories,” the Music School Kornelije Stanković Bijeljina-Ugljevik announced.
The statement noted that this magnificent result represents a huge international success for the Kornelije Stanković Music School Bijeljina, and Republika Srpska, as well as another confirmation of the top-quality work of Professor Slaviša Perić, whose students have dominated the world’s and Europe’s biggest accordion festivals and competitions for years.
The festival in Pula, held from May 19 to 22, is considered the oldest accordion competition in the territory of the former Yugoslavia and has for decades brought together the most eminent accordion performers from around the world.
The very fact that Đorđe earned the title of the best among hundreds of top competitors speaks volumes about the magnitude of this success, the statement added.
The story gains additional significance from the fact that Đorđe Perić had already made history at this very festival in 2022, when he won the City of Pula Cup with a maximum score of 100 points, becoming the first contestant to achieve such a feat since as far back as 1989. His name was therefore already written in golden letters into the history of this prestigious festival.
With this new triumph in Pula, Đorđe once again confirmed his status as one of the most talented young accordionists of today and continued an impressive streak of international victories that place him among the very top of the global accordion scene.
The audience and expert jury in Pula rewarded his performance with standing ovations, and this latest major triumph once again demonstrated that Đorđe Perić and his father and professor Slaviša Perić are a winning team that has for years achieved outstanding results and won the most prestigious awards on the international accordion scene.
