BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 19 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Minister of Energy and Mining Petar Đokić has stated that Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske /power utility company/ will not be sold and that Republika Srpska will preserve this sector.

Speaking about the Ugljevik Thermal Power Plant and Mine /RiTE Ugljevik/, Đokić said he was confident that the measures adopted by the Republika Srpska Government would yield results and that electricity production at the facility would resume.

"The agreed measures will help RiTE Ugljevik resume operations and ensure continuous electricity production in the period ahead," Đokić told a press conference in Banja Luka.

Đokić said that today’s meeting on the issue, held at this level, was significant and that it was important for the public to understand the nature of the agreed measures.

"It is important for everyone at RiTE Ugljevik to understand the seriousness of the current situation and for all employees to contribute to improving work discipline," Đokić said.

He added that it was important to secure the machinery needed for normal production in the period ahead, provide substantial funding to ensure sufficient coal supplies, and continue the expropriation process at RiTE Ugljevik.
