FOČA, SEPTEMBER 12 /SRNA/ – President Milorad Dodik has stated today that Foča University Hospital deserves to be developed into a university clinical center.

Dodik said steps should be taken as soon as possible to enable the health institution to match the standards of the University Clinical Centre in Banja Luka.

"It is important that we have everything needed here so that people do not have to be transferred elsewhere, especially not to other destinations," Dodik told reporters following the visit to Foča University Hospital.

Dodik thanked the management of the hospital and the Faculty of Medicine in Foča, stressing that their dedication had been essential to its success.

"I will simply say that I feel proud at this moment because we have been present here continuously for more than 20 years and have come to understand one thing: without the hospital project and the two faculties here in Foča, this town probably would not have survived as a local community," Dodik said.

Dodik pointed out that every time he visits the hospital or faculties in Foča, he sees that all the projects that have been started have been completed. He added that he had agreed with Hospital Director Nenad Lalović that the most modern equipment needed by both the hospital and medical students would be procured.

Dodik reminded of the doctor Boriša Starović and highlighted his contribution to what Foča has achieved today.

He reiterated that he was pleased with the progress and always enjoyed visiting Foča, and announced that one of the major projects planned for the future would be to improve the road connection between Foča and Istočno Sarajevo.

"We must connect Foča with Istočno Sarajevo by a high-speed road within the medium term, no later than 10 years, which would permanently resolve the issue of road connectivity," Dodik concluded.
