DODIK: DOBOJ HAS HOSTED THE BIGGEST NAMES IN WORLD HANDBALL

DOBOJ, August 12 /SRNA/ – Milorad Dodik, Chairman of the Organising Committee of the 57th International Handball TV Tournament of Champions in Doboj, said that some of the biggest names in world handball, as well as teams that have left a significant mark on the sport, have played in this city.

Dodik noted that high-quality handball had also been played in Doboj decades ago.

“I must thank Mr. /tournament director Danijel/ Šarić; his name means a great deal and is highly respected in this sport. It is nice that we have gathered here, and I am glad that this story continues,” Dodik told the press before the tournament’s opening ceremony.

He notes that everything has been prepared to ensure that this important event proceeds in a competitive spirit.

Six teams are taking part in the International Handball TV Tournament of Champions, which runs until Saturday, August 15: German team “Melsungen,” Slovenia’s “Grosist Slovan,” “Sporting” from Portugal, Egypt’s “Al Ahly,” the Qatar national team, and hosts “Sloga” from Doboj.

The tournament opened with a match between hosts “Sloga” of Doboj and German’s “Melsungen”, which ended by German team’s victory.

The second match of the evening, between Qatar and “Grosist Slovan”, is scheduled for 9:00 p.m.

The Republika Srpska president is general sponsor of the tournament.
