GRADIŠKA, JUNE 26 /SRNA/ – The Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović has stated this evening that FC Sloga from Gornji Podgradci near Gradiška, which is marking its 100th anniversary, represents an important sporting asset for the local community and for Republika Srpska.
"This is a significant milestone. It means that over the past hundred years this club has shared the fate of this region and its local community, while for more than 30 years it has also been part of Republika Srpska," Cvijanović told reporters ahead of the ceremonial academy marking the club's centenary.
She said it was therefore no surprise that both local and Republika Srpska authorities wanted to support FC Sloga and its efforts to bring children together through sport.
"It is also no surprise that local residents recognize the strong bond this club has with their community. Congratulations to everyone. I believe future generations will have the opportunity to celebrate even greater anniversaries after us," Cvijanović said.
She stressed that the occasion was not only about a sports club, but also about generations of young people who had grown up through sport and learned important life lessons about victory, defeat, hard work and dedication.
"This is not just a football club - it is a place where both young and old come together, some on the field and others in the stands," Cvijanović said.
She wished the club's coaches, players, management and all past and future generations of FC Sloga continued success and expressed hope they would remain a source of pride for their hometown and Republika Srpska.
