BANJA LUKA, MAY 9 /SRNA/ - Serbian member of the Presidency of BiH Željka Cvijanović said today that Republika Srpska upholds the values of the great anti-fascist struggle and that it has an obligation to commemorate Victory Day and the defeat of fascism, because thanks to brave people and patriots, the greatest evil and threat to humanity was defeated.
"That means space was opened for a new world of freedom and a new order, not only in terms of society as a whole from an international perspective, but also regarding the individual development of certain states," Cvijanović told reporters in Banja Luka, where she attended a reception hosted by Russian Ambassador to BiH Igor Kalabukhov on the occasion of Victory Day over Fascism.
She stated that gratitude should be expressed to everyone who took part in that struggle and added that there is an obligation to honor all victims who fell for freedom.
"We express gratitude that Republika Srpska has always been on the right side of history and that today, while enjoying freedom and enduring numerous trials over recent decades, it can proudly say that it preserves the values of what was a great anti-fascist struggle," Cvijanović said.
The reception at the Banski Dvor Cultural Center was also attended by ministers in the Republika Srpska Government, members of the National Assembly, members of the Republika Srpska Council of Peoples, Republika Srpska representatives in the joint institutions of BiH, as well as representatives of the religious, cultural, and public life of Banja Luka, Republika Srpska, and BiH.
