BIJELJINA, OCTOBER 2 /SRNA/ - The Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović opened the international scientific conference "Science and Teaching Today" at the Faculty of Education of the University of Istočno Sarajevo in Bijeljina, stressing the importance of supporting science, universities and all levels of education.

"My support for our universities, the Faculty of Education, as well as secondary and primary schools, has been there throughout all these years, and we will continue to focus on innovation and all new contributions that will ensure higher-quality education with practical value," Cvijanović said.

Cvijanović said the participation of experts from 28 countries represented a particularly valuable contribution and congratulated the organizers on their work to date.

She also said it was a great honor to have the opportunity today to hear what science had to say about many important issues society is currently facing.

Dean of the Faculty of Education Dalibor Stević said that an expansion of activities in Turkish and Russian was planned for next year, alongside the existing sections in English.

"The second day of the conference will feature a professional program with workshops for primary school teachers, preschool educators and teachers, focusing on practical topics such as working with children with developmental difficulties and protecting children from dangers on social media and cybercrime," Stević said.

A total of 164 scientific papers will be presented at the conference, while prominent experts will address the plenary sessions, including representatives of an institute in Aachen and Beijing University, one of the world's leading universities in the fields of geography and climatology.
