ZVORNIK, AUGUST 28 /SRNA/ - More than 2,000 residents of Zvornik gathered on Friday evening at the monument to 1,080 fallen soldiers to pay tribute to General Ratko Mladic.
Those gathered lit candles and stood in silence in tribute to the general.
Milivoje Marković, president of the Zvornik City Organization of Families of Fallen and Captured Soldiers and Missing Civilians, thanked the general for everything he had done for the Serbian people.
Dragislav Mijanović, president of the Zvornik City Organization of Military War Invalids, told reporters that citizens and members of the veterans’ community had gathered to pay tribute to the general and express their condolences to his family.
A large number of Republika Srpska flags and photographs of the general were displayed at the gathering.
It was announced that a book of condolences would be opened tomorrow in the Memorial Room, where citizens will be able to sign it.
Transportation will also be organized for Zvornik residents wishing to attend the general’s funeral.
