CATEGORICALLY REJECT ANY PLAN TO OPEN MIGRANT CENTERS

BANJA LUKA, JUNE 30 /SRNA/ – The National Assembly of Republika Srpska is expected, at its fifteenth regular session, to consider the draft declaration of the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik on migrants, which states that the parliament categorically rejects any plan that envisages the opening of centers for housing migrants on the territory of BiH, and especially in Srpska.

The text of the Draft Declaration on the Rejection of Initiatives by the Government of the United Kingdom, the EU and its member states to establish migrant centers on the territory of BiH and opposing any forced settlement of migrants in the territory of Srpska states that the National Assembly rejects all possible acts, discussions, plans or memoranda that would, without Srpska's consent, involve BiH in such processes.

The text further states that the National Assembly of Republika Srpska categorically rejects and opposes any plan, initiative, or bilateral agreement that entails the opening of centers for the accommodation of migrants, returnees, asylum seekers, or persons with rejected status for any reason in the United Kingdom and EU countries, on the territory of BiH, and especially on the territory of Republika Srpska.

In the Draft Declaration, the National Assembly of Republika Srpska calls on all Serb political representatives in the joint institutions of BiH to immediately, publicly, and unequivocally reject any participation in such plans and, if any communication has taken place with the Government of the United Kingdom and EU countries, to inform the public of its content.

On the proposed agenda of the regular session are 30 items, including the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Health Care under urgent procedure, and the Draft Law on the Protection of Public Health from Tobacco and Other Smoking Products.

Before the regular session, the 23rd special session is expected to be held with one item – Information on the situation in public enterprises of Republika Srpska, proposed by the MPs.

The special session is scheduled to begin tomorrow at 10:00, and upon its conclusion, the regular session is expected to be held.
