BANJA LUKA, APRIL 4 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Minister of Interior Željko Budimir has said today in Zalužani that the first battle for Republika Srpska began on this very day in 1992, adding that Republika Srpska and its police are sacred.

Speaking at the main ceremony marking Police Day – April 4, Budimir said that the past year was perhaps one of the most difficult since 1995 due to the escalation of the crisis caused by the intervention of the so-called high representative.

He stresses that Republika Srpska has been confirming its existence on daily basis for the past 34 years as it is attacked every day.

"We are not asking for anything in BiH except what is written in the Constitution. They trample on it daily; they have killed the Dayton Peace Agreement both de facto and de jure. The Constitutional Court of BiH is doing the most to undermine it. In such a country, it is not easy at all to work as a member of the Interior Ministry," Budimir said.

He added that under such circumstances it is clear why Republika Srpska and its police are sacred.

"Republika Srpska has a future. Among others, that future lies in our cadets and students of the Secondary School of Internal Affairs. All children in Republika Srpska know they are safe when they see a police officer. A police officer of Republika Srpska is not only a Serb, but a Bosniak and a Croat, and that will continue to be the case. We do not protect only the Serb people, but all citizens of Republika Srpska," Budimir said.
