PRIJEDOR – Republika Srpska Interior Minister Željko Budimir has stated today that chivalry is the defining characteristic of the Special Police Brigade of the Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior.
"That brigade fought all its battles in the Homeland-Defensive War with honor," Budimir told reporters in Prijedor, where he attended a ceremony marking the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the brigade's Seventh Detachment.
Budimir emphasized that Republika Srpska is the vow of its heroes.
"The Government of Republika Srpska will not forget the descendants of our heroes, because Srpska endures thanks to their sacrifice," Budimir said.
Wartime commander of the Seventh Detachment of the Special Police Brigade Zlatko Brdar said the unit operated on all fronts across Republika Srpska, within the areas of responsibility of all six corps.
Prijedor Mayor Slobodan Javor said the city is proud of the Seventh Detachment and of this day.
The Seventh Detachment was established on February 22, 1994, and had 400 members.
Zlatko Brdar, the wartime commander of the Prijedor detachment, was awarded the Order of Karađorđe's Star, Second Class, while serving as assistant commander of the Special Police Brigade.
