PALE, JUNE 19 /SRNA/ - The new building of the Istočno Sarajevo Police Administration in Pale is one of the most modern facilities within the Ministry of the Interior, Republika Srpska Interior Minister Željko Budimir said today.

According to Budimir, it reflects efforts to improve material and technical conditions and to prepare the Ministry for the challenges of the 21st century and a new understanding of security.

"This facility speaks for itself more than words can describe. Its significance is reflected in 5,123 square metres of new working space and a Republika Srpska investment worth BAM 11.5 million," Budimir said.

Budimir expressed gratitude to Istočno Sarajevo Police Administration Chief Branimir Šehovac, who, he noted, was present at the construction site daily. He stressed that the facility would not have been as functional had the police themselves not been fully involved in its construction.

Budimir noted that the new facility will house the Pale Police Station, the Traffic Police Station, the Pale Gendarmerie Unit, and an office for the issuance of personal identification documents.

"This demonstrates that Republika Srpska is capable of building such a functional facility on its own, using its own resources and construction companies. This building is a source of pride for Republika Srpska, and it is a matter of historical justice that it is located in Pale. This was the wartime capital, and Republika Srpska was founded here," Budimir said during the opening ceremony of the new Istočno Sarajevo Police Administration building.

The Interior Minister stated that Istočno Sarajevo is a hero city, adding that the people of the Sarajevo region still carry a severe trauma to this day, but despite that, continue to build, strengthen, and develop Republika Srpska.

“I would like to thank President Milorad Dodik for his vision of construction and his policy of a balanced approach toward Republika Srpska, who chose Pale as the location for this strategic facility,” Budimir said.

Budimir expressed gratitude to IstočnoSarajevo Mayor Ljubiša Ćosić, stating that the city took over the external landscaping of the facility at a time when the Municipality of Pale was unable or unwilling to fulfil its obligation.

The Interior Minister also stated that Republika Srpska is an expression of the will of the Serbian people in this region, adding that every facility contributing to the development of its institutions represents a historical victory for the Serbian people.

The new facility, with a surface area of 5,123 square metres and a value of BAM 11,537,000, will house the Pale Police Station, the Traffic Safety Police Station, the Pale Gendarmerie Unit, and an office for issuing personal identification documents.

The Istočno Sarajevo Police Administration has jurisdiction over the municipalities of Pale, Sokolac, Istočni Stari Grad, Istočna Ilidža, Istočno Novo Sarajevo, Rogatica, Trnovo, and Han Pijesak.
