ZVORNIK, FEBRUARY 2 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Interior Minister Željko Budimir announced that as of today, there will be an increased police presence in the Zvornik Police Administration's AOR to prevent any security incidents that could disrupt the repeat elections scheduled for Sunday, February 8.
"Police officers of the Interior Ministry will act in accordance with the law and planned measures and actions," emphasized Budimir.
Budimir, who visited the Zvornik Police Administration today, stated that, it was concluded in a meeting with the administration chief Aleksandar Vasiljević that the public safety situation is good - both in terms of crime and public order and peace.
"And that's how it will remain. Our task is to ensure that the election day on Sunday goes smoothly without any problems. We will prevent any disturbances of public order and peace that could interfere with this democratic process taking place during the repeat elections," Budimir told press.
The meeting was also attended by the Republika Srpska Police Director Siniša Kostrešević.
The Central Election Commission of BiH annulled the snap presidential elections in Republika Srpska on December 24, which were held at 136 polling stations across 17 constituencies.
This refers to certain polling stations in Prijedor, Laktaši, Banja Luka, Doboj, Stanari, Lopare, Ugljevik, Osmaci, Zvornik, Vlasenica, Bratunac, Nevesinje, Gacko, Rudo, Bileća, Milići, and Brčko.
