BUDIMIR: GENERAL MLADIĆ – A SYMBOL OF THE SERB PEOPLE’S STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM

BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 27 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Interior Minister Željko Budimir said he received the news of the death of General Ratko Mladić, Chief of the Main Staff of the Republika Srpska Army, with great sadness, stressing that General Mladić was a symbol of the Serb people’s struggle for freedom during the Defensive-Patriotic War.

“An officer who, in the most difficult of times, assumed responsibility and commanded the RSA, which, through a long and arduous struggle, established Republika Srpska. General Mladić will remain deeply etched in the history of Republika Srpska and in the memory of the Serb people. His name is inextricably linked to the establishment and defense of Republika Srpska,” Budimir told SRNA.

Budimir stressed that the general’s passing was a great loss to his family, comrades-in-arms and all those who respected him.

“I extend my deepest condolences to General Mladić’s family, with the message that the memory of him and his role in the establishment of Republika Srpska will live on among the people forever. Eternal glory and gratitude to him,” Minister Budimir stressed.
