BILJANA PLAVŠIĆ MADE A LASTING CONTRIBUTION TO SRPSKA, SHE DESERVES ALL HONOURS

PRIJEDOR, OCTOBER 1 /SRNA/ - Former Republika Srpska President Biljana Plavšić made a significant contribution to Republika Srpska because, in difficult times, she stood alongside the rest of the leadership in defending the then Republika Srpska and the Serb people in BiH, President Milorad Dodik said.

"She fought for a better position for Republika Srpska. Unfortunately, she was completely unjustly tried before the Hague Tribunal, but that was the trend: for anyone who held a position in Republika Srpska to be prosecuted without having committed any crime," Dodik told reporters in Kozara.

He stressed that Plavšić, as a former president of Republika Srpska, was entitled to all the honours of Republika Srpska.

"She was a close associate of mine. She lived to an advanced age and witnessed Republika Srpska become stable," Dodik said.

He added that Biljana Plavšić had devoted her life to Republika Srpska and was satisfied with the work of the Republic's leadership.

Dodik expressed his condolences to the family of Biljana Plavšić, who died in Belgrade this morning at the age of 95.
