BiH COURT’S DECISION ATTACK ON SRPSKA’S DIGITAL SOVEREIGNTY

BANJA LUKA, JULY 23 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Interior Minister Željko Budimir said that the decision of the Court of BiH to postpone the enforcement of the decision issued by the BiH Personal Data Protection Agency represents a major abuse aimed at attacking the digital sovereignty of Republika Srpska and its jurisdictions.

Budimir explained that the use of appeals through the Constitutional Court and the Court of BiH is precisely the mechanism through which judicial pressure is being exerted on Republika Srpska.

"Therefore, this is the tandem that is supposed to break what politics cannot achieve," Budimir told the press in Banja Luka today.

He added that what is being done is not good at all, because the division of responsibilities and the laws are clearly defined.

He specified that, in this case, it concerns an abuse of official position by politicians who know that after the elections they will certainly not hold power at the entity level or at the level of BiH.

The Court of BiH postponed the enforcement of a decision that prohibited the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers and Data Exchange of BiH /IDDEEA/ from processing personal data for the purpose of issuing qualified electronic certificates, i.e., electronic signatures.

By this decision, which postponed the enforcement of the ruling of the BiH Personal Data Protection Agency, IDDEEA was allowed to continue providing electronic services until a final decision is reached in the administrative dispute.
