ŠAMAC, JUNE 7 /SRNA/ – Dunja Maslić, a fourth-grade student at the Srbija Elementary School in Crkvina near Šamac, has donated her hair for the second time to the Iskra Association, which provides assistance to children battling cancer, as she says, she wants all children to be healthy and happy.

Three years ago, Dunja donated her long hair for the first time, and she has now repeated the selfless gesture to help create wigs for children who lose their hair during treatment.

“I wish peace and good health for all children to live happily, and for humanity and kindness to be a part of all of us,” said the young humanitarian, who is also active in the Posavina Cultural and Artistic Society from Crkvina.

Her mother, Marina Maslić, told SRNA that three years ago Dunja was inspired by another girl she had heard about who donated her hair and immediately expressed a desire to do the same.

They waited six months for her hair to grow long enough. Her mother even thought Dunja might forget about it, but she did not.

“She reminded me. It was September, and I took her to a hairdresser who cut her hair. We immediately packed it and sent it to the Iskra Association,” Marina Maslić said.

She added that she is extremely proud of her daughter’s gesture, noting that Dunja let her hair grow solely so that she could cut it off, donate it, and bring a smile back to another child’s face.

“We are incredibly proud of her humanity and maturity at such a young age,” Marina emphasized.

The principal of the Srbija Elementary School in Crkvina, Radenka Mirosavljević, told SRNA that although Dunja is still in the lower grades, she has demonstrated remarkable maturity, generosity, and compassion through her actions.

“Her willingness to help those who need support the most deserves great respect and admiration. We are proud that Dunja is part of our school and that she inspires others through her example to spread kindness, humanity, and love for people,” Mirosavljević said.

She stressed that Dunja’s decision to donate her hair for a second time to children fighting serious illnesses deserves the deepest respect and admiration, expressing hope that her act will inspire others.
