BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 24 /SRNA/ - The Minister of Finance and Treasury in the Council of Ministers, Srđan Amidžić, stated that thanks to the "Water and Sanitation" project worth 16.76 million euros, a total of 165,000 users will receive a better quality or completely new water supply.
Amidžić stated that this is a responsibility towards the citizens and a major need for 15 local communities in Republika Srpska.
"The Government of Republika Srpska has taken on close to 19 million euros, and almost 17 million euros is a grant. This demonstrates Republika Srpska's capacity on the international level, and its ability to apply for and draw significant funds when it comes to grants, apart from the portion related to credit funds," Amidžić told reporters after signing a subsidiary agreement with the Minister of Finance of Republika Srpska, Zora Vidović, for the implementation of the Grant Agreement between BiH and the European Investment Bank for the "Water and Sanitation Republika Srpska Two" project.
According to him, credit funds account for 53 percent of the total funds, while 47 percent are grant funds.
"This rehabilitation and construction of new water supply or sewerage systems with a length of 255 kilometers is significant. When we look at all the local communities, 165,000 users will be covered who will gain access to a better quality water supply or will receive a completely new water supply. All the municipalities that applied have received funds," Amidžić emphasized.
