BATTLE FOR LIFE ABOVE THE CLOUDS: MEDICAL TRANSPORT OF A BOY FROM BANJALUKA TO BELGRADE – HOPE FOR HEALING

BANJA LUKA, MAY 20 /SRNA/ – In the early morning hours, the sound of rotor blades pierced the silence over Banja Luka, signaling another life-saving mission by the helicopter of the Aviation Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs /MOI/ of Republika Srpska.

Before the brave and determined pilots lay another serious mission – not merely a patient transport, but the transport of hope, struggle, and a chance for life.

This time, it was about a 15-year-old boy, initials V.V., who was diagnosed with a brain tumor and urgently needed to be transferred from the University Clinical Center of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka to the Clinical Center of Serbia in Belgrade.

As always, the flight was carried out swiftly and efficiently, immediately upon receiving the request for medical air transport. Upon landing in Belgrade, the young patient was met by a team of doctors at the pediatric neurology department.

This was the 32nd such flight carried out by the Aviation Administration of the MOI of Srpska since the beginning of the year. Yet each mission carries unique weight – behind every request lies a story of human struggle, of family, of a patient, in this case a 15-year-old child waiting for a new chance.

Boban Kusturić, Head of the Aviation Administration of the MOI of Srpska, told SRNA that emotions were intense, the team of pilots and medical staff were ready, and weather conditions were favorable.

"Rapid response time is our greatest ally. Under the close supervision of doctors and expert crew, the helicopter safely transported the young patient to Belgrade, where a team of specialists will continue the fight for his life," Kusturić said.

On behalf of the entire team of doctors, pilots, and staff under his leadership, Kusturić sent words of support to the family and expressed hope for successful treatment.

"To the young patient, we wish strength and a fast, successful recovery. It is our duty to respond swiftly, but also to stand with our citizens in their most difficult moments. This flight was more than a mission – it was a call of humanity," said the head of the Aviation Administration of the MOI of Srpska.

In the end, we can only emphasize once again how vital the role of emergency medical transport is – and how every moment, every second, counts in saving a young life.

The helicopters of the MOI of Republika Srpska are not just aircraft – they are often "wings of hope".
