BANJA LUKA, MAY 5 /SRNA/ – Representatives of the University of Banja Luka and the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University signed a cooperation agreement today in Banja Luka, covering student education, international student projects, and scientific research in the field of oncology.
The agreement, signed by Banja Luka University Rector Radoslav Gajanin and professor at the , academician Igor Reshetov, also provides for medical consultations with patients, including the possibility of treatment both in the Russian Federation and in Republika Srpska.
Gajanin emphasized that for the University of Banja Luka and its Faculty of Medicine, the exchange of teaching staff and students is important, especially education in the field of surgical oncology.
"It would be very beneficial to apply treatment methods used at the Russian university in the treatment of oncology patients in Republika Srpska," Gajanin told the press in Banja Luka after the signing.
He expressed confidence that, in cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine and the University Clinical Centre of Republika Srpska, a team will be formed that would receive further training at the Sechenov University, primarily in surgical oncology.
Gajanin added that the agreement also provides for joint participation in projects.
Reshetov highlighted that special cooperation between the two universities is planned in the field of oncology.
"We focus on motivating students, future oncologists, and we want to develop that at the University of Banja Luka as well. We have a three-level system that includes activities for oncology students, a student scientific club, an art school related to oncology, as well as training with leading oncologists," Reshetov explained.
He expressed hope that students from Republika Srpska and Serbia will participate in an Onco-Olympics organized by the Russian university.
