BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 28 /SRNA/ - Bomb sweeps are underway at several locations in Banja Luka following a threatening email claiming that bombs equipped with timers had been planted, and prosecutors have classified the incident as terrorism, the Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior /MoI/ told SRNA.
“Police in Banja Luka are taking action in response to the threat, and an investigation into the claims made in the email is underway,” the Republika Srpska MoI said after the threatening email was sent to multiple addresses.
The email claimed that several bombs equipped with timers had been planted at many locations across the city, including the University Clinical Centre /UCC/ of Republika Srpska, the hospital at 1 Zdrave Korde Street, the Cathedral Church of Christ the Savior, and the premises of the Serbian Radical Party and the Serb Democratic Party /SDS/.
The Ministry of the Interior said that the contents of the email had been reported to the Republic Public Prosecutor’s Office, which classified the threat as the criminal offence of terrorism.
