BANJA LUKA, JULY 30 /SRNA/ - During the first six months of this year, the Republic of Srpska was visited by 245,744 tourists who generated 611,951 overnight stays, which represents a 2.9 percent increase in arrivals and a 5 percent increase in overnight stays compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Tourism Organization of Srpska.
Sanela Šimun, Public Relations Associate at the Tourism Organization of the Republic of Srpska, stated that mountain destinations recorded an increase of 23 percent, while spa destinations saw a 2.9 percent increase.
Šimun noted that during the first six months of this year, guests stayed for an average of 2.5 days.
"As in the previous year, the highest number of visits - aside from domestic tourists - was made by guests from neighboring countries: Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Montenegro, while among other European countries, tourists from Turkey, Austria, Germany, and Italy stand out," Šimun said.
According to data from the Republic Institute of Statistics, 49,944 tourist arrivals were recorded in Srpska in June of this year, which is a 6.5 percent decrease compared to the previous month.
In June, 108,180 tourist overnight stays were recorded, which is a 12.8 percent decrease compared to May.
