200,000 TOURISTS IN SRPSKA IN FIRST FIVE MONTHS OF 2026

BANJA LUKA, JUNE 30 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska was visited by 195,800 tourists in the first five months of this year, who recorded 503,771 overnight stays, representing a 4.9 percent increase in arrivals and an 8 percent increase in overnight stays compared to the same period last year, they told SRNA at the Republika Srpska Tourist Organisation.

Public relations officer at the Tourist Organisation Sanela Šimun said that mountain destinations recorded a 28.1 percent increase in overnight stays, spa destinations a 4 percent increase, while other tourist destinations saw a 3.2 percent rise.

She noted that tourists stayed an average of 2.6 days during the five-month period.

As in previous years, the largest number of visitors, aside from domestic tourists, came from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Montenegro, while among other European countries the most represented were Turkiye, Austria, Germany and Italy.

Domestic tourists recorded the highest number of overnight stays in other tourist destinations, which include areas with natural attractions such as climate, cultural and historical heritage, as well as river and lake destinations.

They were followed by spa destinations, mountain destinations and destinations that cannot be classified into the above groups but have accommodation facilities.

"Foreign tourists recorded the highest number of overnight stays in other tourist destinations, followed by spa destinations and mountain destinations," Šimun concluded.

In May, 53,398 tourist arrivals were recorded in Republika Srpska, which is 21.3% more than in April, along with 124,113 overnight stays, or 22 percent more than in April, according to the Republika Srpska Institute of Statistics.

Republika Srpska had 13,511 permanent beds available in May.
