ZORAN STANKOVIĆ - PATHOLOGIST, OFFICER, MINISTER…

BIJELJINA, OCTOBER 4 /SRNA/ – Renowned Serbian pathologist, officer, university professor and politician Zoran Stanković /1954–2021/ died on October 5, 2021.

Stanković performed autopsies on around 1,000 people, mostly Serbs, who were victims of atrocities committed in the Podrinje region by Muslim forces from Srebrenica under the command of Naser Orić. Among those killed was 11-year-old Slobodan Stojanović.

He held a doctorate in medical sciences and served in the Serbia’ sArmy with the rank of retired Major General of the Medical Corps.

Stanković served as president of the Coordination Centre for Southern Serbia, Minister of Health of Serbia, Minister of Defence of Serbia and Montenegro until the dissolution of that country, and Minister of Defence of Serbia.
