BELGRADE, MAY 14 /SRNA/ – Former Serbian diplomat Živadin Jovanović believes that Washington has decided that Christian Schmidt should leave and that the self-appointed official has been instructed to end illegal usurpation of the constitutional powers of a UN member state, adding that all of Schmidt's decisions in BiH should now be declared null and void.
"Whoever removed Schmidt should also ensure that all of his decisions are declared null and void, that relations are returned to the state they were before his arrival in Sarajevo, and that the damage caused is compensated," Jovanović stressed.
In a written statement to SRNA, Jovanović cited that the "Schmidt case" could serve as a serious warning to those aspiring to hegemony in the Balkans at the expense of the Serb people "not to count their gains prematurely without the innkeeper".
"I believe that Washington decided Schmidt should go, but accepted that it be done in the form of a resignation in order to save Schmidt's face. What matters to the Americans is that the Germans understand that even in the Balkans they cannot be bigger players than the United States and that they must align their ambitions with American primacy," Jovanović said.
He noted that it has not been explained how Schmidt resigned from the position of High Representative for BiH as he had never actually been elected or appointed to that position.
In reality, Jovanović says, the self-appointed official was ordered to end the illegal usurpation of the constitutional powers of a UN member state, during which, through his authoritarian decisions, he caused enormous damage primarily to Republika Srpska and the Serb people, and then to the reputation and role of the UN Security Council.
