BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 8 /SRNA/ – Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vučić hosted a reception today for the Serbian women’s national volleyball team following their winning of the bronze medal at the European Championship.
Vučić congratulated the volleyball players on yet another success and thanked them for representing Serbia in the best possible way.
"I am endlessly grateful to you for your achievements. Serbia is a small country, but it is a European powerhouse in women's volleyball," Vučić said.
He announced that a major volleyball centre would soon be completed, with the volleyball players, both women and men, moving into its sports facilities shortly.
"By the end of the year, you should also move into the hotel section of the centre, and I believe this will be an opportunity for you to win even more medals," Vučić said.
Serbian women's volleyball coach Zoran Terzić said that, ahead of the third-place match against Poland, they had agreed that this time they would play for their people and Serbia.
"We will always play only for Serbia. When you have the motivation of playing for your country, you can achieve anything," Terzić said.
The Serbian women's volleyball team won the bronze medal at the European Championship on Sunday, September 6, after defeating Poland 3-1 in the third-place match in Istanbul.
