VUČIĆ: PEACE IS SERBIAN PEOPLE’S TOP PRIORITY, SERBIA REMAINS FOCUSED ON ECONOMIC GROWTH

BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 10 /SRNA/ - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said today that peace is the Serbian people’s top priority and that the country must remain focused on economic growth.

“We don’t need any war, or any second half. Perhaps we are the only ones who don’t need a second half,” Vučić said.

Addressing the Belgrade Economic Talks - Beltalks 2026, Vučić said that Serbia had performed somewhat better than other countries in the region in terms of economic growth, but that he could not be satisfied if things were not going well for everyone.

Speaking about the consequences of General Ratko Mladić’s funeral, Vučić said that Serbia must continue working towards its path to the EU.

“No one wanted to ask whether there was anything for which we were at fault. No one asked why so many people attended the funeral. It is because people are fed up with being humiliated,” Vučić said.

He recalled that when war criminal Slobodan Praljak committed suicide in The Hague in 2017, the Croatian Parliament expressed its condolences and observed a minute of silence, as well as adopting a declaration stating that all six verdicts against Croatian generals were unacceptable.
