BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 3 /SRNA/ - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said that the remains of General Ratko Mladić, who died in the detention unit of the Hague Mechanism, have been taken over and are expected to arrive in Serbia in the late afternoon.
"I think that his son Darko will inform you in the coming hours and days about what he plans and wants. We will provide every kind of logistical and transportation support and ensure public order, peace and security," Vučić told reporters.
He stressed that tens of thousands of people are expected to attend General Mladić's funeral, which will make providing security a major challenge.
Vučić emphasized that all available forces would be deployed to ensure the safety of everyone.
"Given the assessments of the Security Information Agency /BIA/, the Military Security Agency, the Military Intelligence Agency, and the Ministry of the Interior of Serbia, which put the expected attendance at tens of thousands of people, we must take all necessary measures because of the location of the funeral itself," Vučić said.
General Ratko Mladić died on August 27 in a detention hospital in The Hague.
