BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 23 /SRNA/ - Miloš Vučević, envoy of the President of Serbia, said at the ceremonial opening of the Days of Srpska in Serbia event that the existence of Republika Srpska is a forever “no” of the Serbian people to the Ustasha sabers and knives, to bloody pits, and to camps for children.
“This must never happen again and cannot be allowed to happen,” Vučević said in his address at the National Theatre in Belgrade, emphasizing that Serbia and Republika Srpska today stand together, not as two separate worlds, but as one heart.
He recalled 1992, when the war in BiH began, noting that the Serbs had no other path or choice but to create their own state, Republika Srpska.
“It arose from blood and tears, but also from the unwavering determination of the Serbian people to remain masters of their own land,” Vučević said, adding that Republika Srpska is therefore more than a political entity - it is “a symbol of existence, a monument to sacrifice, and a legacy for the future.”
He said that throughout the centuries of the Serbian people’s existence in BiH, their greatest achievement has been survival, emphasizing that despite numerous hardships and pressures, the Serbs have preserved their faith, language, and name, time and again finding the strength to defend their rights.
He stated that the Days of Republika Srpska in Serbia event celebrates centuries of just struggle and perseverance, and also recalled the Declaration of the All-Serbian Assembly, which establishes and testifies that the unity of the Serbian people is not based on political circumstances but on history, brotherhood, and a shared destiny.
“It is our task to preserve this unity, and our duty to build Republika Srpska and Serbia as pillars of national identity, as well as spaces of freedom, progress, and peace, and to ensure that others do not shape the destiny of the Serbian people,” Vučević said.
