BELGRADE, JUNE 28 /SRNA/ – For Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, Vidovdan /St. Vitus Day/ is not merely a remembrance of a historical event, but a lasting symbol of national spiritual strength, perseverance, and fidelity to the Vidovdan Covenant and the values that have shaped the Serb people for centuries, Petar Petković, Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, said.

"It is precisely these values that have enabled us to preserve our identity, faith, and national belonging through the most difficult times," Petković said in his Vidovdan message to the Serb people.

He pointed to attempts to deny the Serb people the right to freely nurture their traditions and holidays, as well as numerous provocations by the authorities in Priština, which reflect their true anti-Serb nature.

"Such attempts at intimidation cannot change the fact that Vidovdan remains for the Serb people an indelible symbol of unity and historical memory, woven into the Battle of Kosovo and Prince Lazar's sacrifice," Petković emphasized.

He expressed confidence that Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija would once again mark the holiday peacefully, in unity and with dignity, remaining faithful to the values that have united the Serb people for centuries.

"May Vidovdan remind us that faith, unity, and perseverance are the foundation of our future, just as they were the support of all previous generations," Petković said.
