TRIFKOVIĆ: BRUTAL MOVE WITH ELEMENTS OF BLUFF THAT SERBS SHOULD REJECT

BELGRADE, MAY 23 /SRNA/ – Professor of International Relations Srđa Trifković told SRNA that the Franco-German non-paper represents yet another attempt to impose the will of official Brussels as embodied in the illegitimate High Representative, and he believes that this brutal move contains elements of a bluff.

Trifković believes that the appropriate response to this act by Berlin and Paris should be a categorical rejection by the Serbian side - both Banja Luka and Belgrade - of any submission to dictates based on the illegitimate decisions of Christian Schmidt, because "this is the root of all problems."

"I believe this truly brutal non-paper is nothing more than an attempt to impose the will of official Brussels, embodied in the illegal and illegitimate High Representative, by applying pressure primarily on Belgrade," said Trifković.

He pointed out that the document was made public during the visit of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas to Belgrade, who also stated that Brussels expects a series of demands to be met—primarily the imposition of sanctions against the Russian Federation.

"There is a certain light at the end of the tunnel in the fact that official Washington is not fully behind this. However, by the time the issue of BiH and Serbian territories even reaches the agenda of the Trump administration, a lot of time will pass—and unfortunately, the Serbs do not have much time," Trifković noted.

He emphasized that Brussels now faces a major headache, as it must take on the burden of the war in Ukraine, from which the U.S. is increasingly distancing itself.

Trifković stated that this is why he believes the Franco-German move also contains "an element of bluff".

"I don't believe that Paris, Berlin, Brussels, or London - at a time of economic downturn, particularly in Germany, and when they must assume the financial, industrial, and military burden of supporting the Kyiv regime - can afford the luxury of imposing some unacceptable fait accompli on the Serbs in Republika Srpska," Trifković concluded.
