SO-CALLED KOSOVO POLICE TEAR DOWN FLAG OF SERB ASSOCIATION

BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 2 /SRNA/ – The so-called Kosovo police reportedly tore down the flag of the Serbian Women's Association of central Kosovo and the singing group Kosovke from Batus near Kosovo Polje at the Brnjak checkpoint.

The flag bore the inscriptions "Kosovke," "Batus," and "Kosovo and Metohija," along with photographs of the group members, and was used for representation during participation in cultural events, RTS reports.

The incident occurred on Sunday, August 31, when the six-member group of the Association was returning from the All-Serb Assembly of Cultural Creativity of the Homeland and Diaspora, held in East Sarajevo.

Danijela Simonović-Mitić, founder of the Association, stated that an Albanian police officer, around 3 a.m., noticed the flag among other equipment in their van and ordered it to be removed from the vehicle.

"They also took out other pieces of equipment, mostly clothing, and were looking for additional items to confiscate. They claimed the flag was allegedly provocative and incited intolerance," Simonović-Mitić stated.

She reported the incident to the police inspectorate in Ajvalija near Priština.
