SANU MEDAL FOR LITERATURE AND ART GOES TO DUŠAN OTAŠEVIĆ

BELGRADE, OCTOBER 28 /SRNA/ - Academic Dušan Otašević has been awarded this year's Medal of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts /SANU/ in the field of literature and art, the Academy announced today.

The award citation says that Otašević, longtime director of the SANU Gallery, has through his work "brilliantly illuminated the visual art landscape in the artistic being of Serbia and its art".

"His work is an indispensable part of the history of Serbian and Yugoslav art in the second half of the 20th century, while its later international reception confirms that this significance is not limited to a historical or national framework," the statement said.

The award will be presented on November 19 at a ceremony marking SANU Day.
