BELGRADE, AUGUST 25 /SRNA/ - The family of General Ratko Mladić has once again submitted a request for his release from the Hague detention hospital for medical treatment in Serbia, due to his very poor health condition, as well as negligent medical care as determined by a Serbian doctor, the general's son Darko Mladić told SRNA.

Darko Mladić stated that the family submitted a new request after the President of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, Graciela Gatti Santana, rejected the previous one last Thursday, August 20.

He specified that the new request was submitted yesterday based on the report of a Serbian doctor who visited General Mladić in the Hague detention hospital on Friday, August 21.

Santana ordered the detention facility and independent doctors there to issue their opinion on the Serbian doctor's report within 24 hours.

"We will see what these independent doctors have to say," Darko said.

According to him, they will have to compile that report today, and Santana could make a decision quickly after that.

He stated that he was able to see his father yesterday via a video call on a laptop and that there are no changes.

"His condition is the same," said Darko Mladić.

The family has repeatedly submitted requests for General Mladić's release for medical treatment in Serbia, but they have been rejected, most recently in August.
