BELGRADE, DECEMBER 31 /SRNA/ - The director of the State Archives of Serbia Miroslav Perišić told SRNA that cooperation with the Archives of Republika Srpska is a strategic priority, especially at a time when there are attempts to revise history, and announced the launch of a major joint project next year.

"The State Archives of Serbia and the Archives of Republika Srpska are brotherly institutions. We have been cooperating for more than a decade, and this cooperation is not based solely on agreements, but also on joint projects," Perišić pointed out.

Perišić emphasized that cooperation with the Archives of Republika Srpska is a fundamental strategic project of the State Archives of Serbia, that the two archives share much in common when it comes to the history of the Serb people, and that they are planning joint projects for the coming year and the years ahead.

He also announced a project set to begin in 2026, adding that its implementation will take a longer period due to scholarly research and the approach required for the project, which is why he did not wish to disclose further details.

"I like us to keep quiet and work, and then show the results," Perišić said, adding that the announced major project could be realized, as he hopes, over the next two years in order to achieve tangible results.

Perišić pointed to the importance of cooperation between the two archives, especially at a time when there are attempts to revise history, emphasizing that archives serve as a barrier against falsification.

"For some time, we spoke about the revision of history; now we can already speak of the falsification of history. Therefore, as guardians of memory, archives are the bearers of identity. They are sources of knowledge. I would say they are not only guardians of memory, but also guardians of the future," Perišić emphasized.

Perišić stressed that through work on projects such as "The Culture of Serbs in Sarajevo," "The Culture of Serbs in Trieste," and "The Culture of Serbs in Dubrovnik," the two archives are fighting falsification, because when a topic is thoroughly researched and a book on it is published, it becomes much more difficult to falsify history.

He noted that the two archives implemented joint projects in 2025 - the exhibition catalogue "The Culture of Serbs in Sarajevo" and the exhibition catalogue "Ivo Andrić and Italy," which was presented in Trieste and Banja Luka.
