BELGRADE, APRIL 20 /SRNA/ - His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije told pupils and students from Kosovo and Metohija, winners of annual scholarships from the Sima A. Igumanov Endowment fund, that their church is always with them.
"For everything we can and can't do, we will have to do it, it is enough and necessary that you contact us," said Patriarch Porfirije at the scholarship awarding ceremony in the Patriarchate of Peć.
He added that it is a blessing for the Church to implement the holy will of the great benefactor Sima Igumanov, who came from Kosmet.
"And here, Archimandrite Danilo, prefect of the Sima Igumanova Endowment, reminds me that in addition to the regular scholarship, which goes throughout the year, we also have a holiday supplement for all of you considering that today is a great holiday. May it be blessed! Christ is risen!", said His Holiness.
Patriarch Porfirije previously led the Easter liturgy in the Patriarchate of Peć, saying that with the resurrection of the Lord, man was also resurrected, and that people cannot live without each other, it was announced on the website of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
According to him, no one can do without the other no matter how he prays to God, "no matter where he was born, no matter if he is famous, known or unknown, no matter if he is erudite or ignorant".
"In our resurrected Lord, we are all one, and that's why exclusively and only through His resurrection we should look and observe each other. And then it is certain that only joy will be the content of our lives and that we will all rejoice in each other," Patriarch Porfirije said.
With the prayerful participation of Abbess Haritina and the sisterhood of Peć, the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church was assisted by vicar bishops - Hilarion from Novo Brdo and Nikon from Jenopol, as well as members of the patriarch's clerical entourage.
His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije was enthroned in the Patriarchate of Peć in 2022.
Patriarch Porfirije has been staying in Kosovo since April 18, where he was previously banned from entering several times.
