PANENKA: CZECH PUBLIC SUPPORTS SERBIA AND REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 7 /SRNA/ – Czech journalist Radim Panenka says that a large part of the Czech public supports Serbia and Republika Srpska and that they know the truth about the 1990s wars.

Panenka, who came to Belgrade to pay tribute to General Ratko Mladić, stressed that Western propaganda is strong in the Czech Republic, which continues to this day.

"But that is against the interests of the Czech Republic. Today they support Brussels, while yesterday they supported Washington, until Donald Trump became president of the United States," Panenka said.

He recalled that he had written a short article about General Mladić as a way of saying farewell to him.

"I have known Darko, General Mladić's son, for more than 10 years. He is a great friend of mine, and for me this is also a personal matter," Panenka said.

He expressed hope that the Mechanism in The Hague would be held accountable for the consequences of its decisions regarding General Mladić.

"The family requested medical treatment in Serbia and that the general spend his final days in Serbia. They violated all of that. But I hope there will be an investigation, even though they have some form of immunity," Panenka told RTRS.

He stressed that this was a great injustice and recalled that 13 years ago he had written a book about the Hague Tribunal and the Serbs who were convicted there.

Panenka said he would continue to fight for the truth about the 1990s events.
