OVER 900 CHILDREN AT THE FOLKLORE FESTIVAL NEAR THE MONASTERY OF THE HOLY ARCHANGELS

PRIZREN, MAY 24 /SRNA/ - The children's folklore festival "In Anticipation of Vidovdan" gathered more than 900 participants from all parts of Kosovo and Metohija today in the courtyard of the Monastery of the Holy Archangels near Prizren.

The event opened with a parade of participants, after which dances, songs, and traditional costumes from all corners of Kosovo took turns on the stage.

The President of the Association of Amateurs of Kosovo and Metohija and one of the organizers, Đorđe Lakušić, said that these children are the true guardians of Serbian cultural heritage.

"This is more than a festival – it is also an educational workshop. It does not only encompass dance and song, but also drawing and writing on the theme of the Nemanjić dynasty's endowments. The children are the true guardians of Serbian cultural heritage," Lakušić emphasized.

Ivan Stojković from the "Gračanica" Cultural Center said that the 25th folklore festival is being held in the beautiful setting of the Monastery of the Holy Archangels, where participants from 21 cultural and artistic societies have gathered, reports Kosovo Online.

The organizers of the event are the "Gračanica" Cultural Center, the Association of Amateurs of Kosovo and Metohija, the brotherhood of the Monastery of the Holy Archangels, and the Art Club in Prizren.

The event was supported by the Office for Kosovo and Metohija and the Ministry of Culture of Serbia.
