BELGRADE, OCTOBER 9 /SRNA/ - North Mitrovica Mayor Milan Radojević and his deputy Adrijana Hodžić briefed an OSCE delegation on what they described as institutional pressure on the municipality, pointing to direct interference by the central authorities in the work of local government and restrictions on its powers.

Radojević said at the meeting that such actions directly affected the functioning of municipal institutions as well as the daily lives of residents, whose interests and rights must be at the center of the work of all institutions.

He said the position of the Serbian people and members of other communities was now significantly more difficult than before, underscoring the need for a stronger and more visible international presence and more active engagement aimed at overcoming the problems.

Radojević stressed that respect for the powers of local government, protection of the rights of all citizens and ensuring conditions for a peaceful and dignified life for all communities were essential for preserving stability and building trust, Kosovo Online reported.
