BIJELJINA, MAY 29 /SRNA/ - On May 30, 1999, during the NATO aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, NATO aircraft destroyed the bridge over Velika Morava near Varvarin and killed 11 civilians.
Among those killed was 16-year-old Sanja Milenković, one of the most talented young mathematicians in the world.
In the same attack, Archpriest-Stavrophor Milivoj Ćirić was also killed, becoming the first victim of the NATO aggression among the clergy of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
He was killed on the doorstep of the nearby Church of the Assumption of the Most Holy Mother of God.
The attack took place at a time when the bridge was crowded with people due to market day.
