MALAGURSKI: "CHILDREN OF KOZARA" EXPLAINS JASENOVAC IN MOST ARTISTIC MANNER

BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 21 /SRNA/ – The film "Children of Kozara" by Lordan Zafranović, which will premiere at the International Film Festival – FEST in Belgrade, is a masterpiece, Serbian-Canadian film director and screenwriter Boris Malagurski assessed.

"If someone does not understand what Jasenovac was, this is a film par excellence for explaining it in the most artistic manner possible. It is Zafranović's life's work," Malagurski told SRNA.

Malagurski, who had the opportunity to watch the film at a preview screening several months ago, said it was a deeply moving production, so excellent that its length did not bother him.

"I thought about that film for at least four weeks after I watched it; that is how strong impression it made on me. So, four hours is a short period considering how much is told and how important it is for everyone to see it," Malagurski emphasized.

He recommended the film to everyone, saying they certainly would not regret it, and recalled that Titanic also runs for three and a half hours.

The premiere of the long-awaited film The Golden Ratio 42: Children of Kozara, directed by Lordan Zafranović, is scheduled for October 2 at the Sava Centre in Belgrade.

The film will officially open the upcoming 53rd International Film Festival FEST, and will also be screened in Republika Srpska the day after its Belgrade premiere.

This war drama was made based on a screenplay by Arsen Diklić and Lordan Zafranović, with Uroška Tatomir as co-screenwriter. It tells the story of the suffering of children in the Jasenovac concentration camp during World War II in the NDH territory.

The cast of this monumental project includes more than 100 actors from across the region, among them Predrag Miki Manojlović, Anica Dobra, Rene Bitorajac, and Irfan Mensur.
