VIENNA, AUGUST 26 /SRNA/ - Enrolment for the new school year at Prosvjeta’s Serbian language schools and Little Storytelling Groups will begin across Austria on Monday, September 7, continuing its longstanding mission of education, community-building, and preserving cultural heritage, the Serbian Cultural and Educational Society Prosvjeta said in a press release

Prosvjeta called on parents to take advantage of this opportunity and allow their children to grow up learning their language alongside their peers.

They stressed that in a multilingual and multicultural environment such as Austria’s, nurturing one’s mother tongue is of immeasurable importance for the overall development of every child’s personality.

“With an extensive network that now includes more than 40 schools and classes in Vienna and all of Austria’s federal states, Prosvjeta has created a safe, supportive and warm environment for hundreds of children,” Prosvjeta said.

It was pointed out that, through the dedicated work of its teachers, learning Serbian becomes a lively journey through the country’s rich history, traditions, literature and the beauty of the Cyrillic script.

The Little Storytelling Group is intended for preschool children and the youngest pupils.

Through carefully designed games, songs, drama workshops and storytelling, children acquire vocabulary most enjoyably, develop a love for the language spoken in their homeland and form their first lasting friendships.

For older pupils, classes at Prosvjeta’s schools are designed to complement their regular education, giving them greater confidence, bilingual literacy and a deeper understanding of their roots.

“Children here not only learn to read and write, but also discover the joy of creating together through performances, sports events, quizzes and arts clubs,” says the press release.
