BELGRADE, AUGUST 12 /SRNA/ – Nenad Rašković from the village of Dren near Zubin Potok, who was beaten by members of the so-called Kosovo police, has sustained numerous injuries, including a head contusion, chest injuries, a fracture of the ninth rib, high blood pressure and severe psychological trauma, said Zlatan Elek, director of the Clinical Hospital Centre in North Mitrovica.
“For this vandalistic act by the so-called Kosovo police, which is not the first, we, as doctors, conclude that this was not merely a beating but, unfortunately, an attempted murder of our fellow citizen, a citizen of Kosovo and Metohija,” Elek said at an emergency press conference of the Serb List.
He said that, according to psychiatrists’ assessment, it would take a long time for the psychological trauma Rašković experienced to heal.
Elek confirmed that Rašković was on his way to the Clinical Centre of Serbia in Belgrade and that a medical board had made the decision this morning to transfer him due to his unstable health condition and the extent of his injuries.
The Serb List said yesterday that members of the so-called Kosovo police had entered Nenad Rašković’s family home in the village of Dren in the municipality of Zubin Potok, beaten him, taken him into the woods and tied him to a tree.
According to Rašković’s testimony, they began beating him for no reason after searching his home and then, after tying him to a tree in a nearby forest, brutally beat him with a water hose, inflicting multiple injuries.
