ČAVOŠKI: REFUSAL OF MLADIĆ'S RELEASE REQUEST IS HAGUE'S CRIME

BANJA LUKA, MAY 14 /SRNA/ – Member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts /SANU/ Kosta Čavoški told SRNA that the refusal to allow former wartime commander of the Republika Srpska Army /RSA/ Ratko Mladić to receive treatment in Serbia is in fact the most appalling crime of the Hague Tribunal, which, he said, is known for delivering its convicts in coffins.

"That is their principle. They are waiting, God forbid, for someone like Ratko Mladić to die, and then they will hand him over", Čavoški said.

He stressed that the Hague authorities will not help Mladić, just as they did not help Serb General Nebojša Pavković while he was detained at the Hague Tribunal.

"Pavković was allowed to come to Serbia when he was already at death's door. I wanted to visit him, however I was told that he was unable to speak when he arrived. That is the Hague's attitude toward our convicts", Čavoški said.

The Hague Mechanism rejected the defense request for General Ratko Mladić to be released for treatment in Serbia due to his serious health condition.
