BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 13 /SRNA/ – Member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts /SANU/ Kosta Čavoški, on the occasion of the upcoming celebration of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag, expressed his expectation that the two Serb states, Serbia and Republika Srpska, will have only one holiday.

Čavoški told SRNA that it is important to jointly mark this and similar Serbian holidays.

"It is quite natural to show Serbian unity in this way as well, especially in times when we are exposed to various pressures. And what I expect in the future is that we, that is, Serbia and Srpska, actually have only one holiday. And that these countries will be united. So, it is fine that we celebrate holidays together, but it would be even better if it were only one holiday," Čavoški said.

The Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag is a state holiday celebrated on September 15 in Serbia and Srpska, and it was symbolically established on the day when the breakthrough of the Salonika Front is commemorated. It has been celebrated since 2020.

The idea of a joint holiday of Serbia and Srpska was initiated by the leaders of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić and Ana Brnabić, in agreement with the leadership of Republika Srpska, headed by Milorad Dodik.
