CATASTROPHIC FLOODS HIT SRPSKA, SERBIA AND FBiH 12 YEARS AGO

BIJELJINA, MAY 13 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska, the Federation of BiH and Serbia were hit by catastrophic floods today in 2014.

In Republika Srpska, floodwaters submerged Doboj and Šamac, in the Federation Maglaj, and in Serbia Obrenovac.

The floods lasted until May 20.

During that period, a huge amount of rainfall fell across the area, the highest recorded since meteorological observations began.

The heavy rainfall also triggered numerous landslides, with the situation particularly alarming in Šekovići.

In Republika Srpska, 17 people lost their lives.

According to World Bank data, the damage suffered by Republika Srpska was estimated at more than two billion BAM.
